Official Trailer for Medieval Slasher Mordhau Released by Triternion

Mordhau is an upcoming multiplayer battler from developer Triternion that aims to put players in the shoes of medieval warriors in 64-player battles. The game looks like it could follow in the vein of For Honor and Kingdom Come: Deliverance as games that embrace the visceral combat of medieval battles. Watch the trailer below.

The trailer shows off combat that feels impactful. Every blow seems to carry weight and dismemberment happens often. As players clash in brutal battles, they have quite a few options of how to engage enemies.

Quite a few different weapons are seen in the trailer. Obviously, swords and shields are readily available, but they are far from the only option. Lances, spears, and giant maces feature in the trailer, along with horse-based combat. There’s also a short scene of an archer shooting arrows into an enemy’s head. All of the options look viable and fun.

The developers mention on their page a number of different modes. In addition to standard Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch modes, there’s one called Frontline, which features siege weaponry. There’s also a Skirmish mode where each player only has one life, which could make an interesting addition to the Frontline mode.

The game will also feature a 64-person Battle Royale mode where you try to soak the battlefield with 63 other players’ blood. Mordhau isn’t all competitive though, as it also includes a cooperative Horde mode where players fight off waves of AI enemies.

Mordhau is coming to PC on April 29, 2019.
