The Oddworld series has long been a cult classic for over two decades thanks to the series unique mix of dark humor, unorthodox characters, and challenging puzzle-solving, and while it has been quite some time since we last saw the series, the long-awaited Oddworld: Soulstorm made its debut with brand new footage showing what to expect from the series’ next chapter.

During a presentation at GDC 2019, Oddworld Inhabitants shared several new glimpses at the upcoming Oddworld: Soulstorm, the biggest of which included a look at one of the game’s cinematics and showing one of the most notable glimpses at the game’s visuals so far since it was announced in 2016.

Alongside the cinematic footage, Oddworld Inhabitants also shared a behind-the-scenes video breaking down the creation of the cinematic as it was being developed in Unity. The third video shared during the presentation includes a look at one of the character models in game that utilizes new rendering technology with Unity.

As a longtime fan of the series, and given the relative quietness that has been seen around the game since it was first announced, what’s been shown so far of Soulstorm definitely seems encouraging and a huge graphical leap over past installments of the series.

Oddworld: Soulstorm is currently in development, though no exact release window or date has been announced for the game at this time. In the meantime, you can check out the three brand new videos of the title from GDC 2019 below:
