It seems as though a sequel to Bloober Team’s futuristic horror game Observer could be announced in the near future, based on a new tease from the developer.

Early this morning, Bloober Team released a brief new video on its YouTube channel which seems to be teasing an upcoming project from the studio. The video is essentially just a looping image with the words “Incoming Call” appearing on the screen.

What makes this tease almost certainly seem associated with Observer is that it contains the exact same visual style of the game. In a tweet released by Bloober Team, it was also indicated that this mystery project is a cyberpunk horror game, which means it’s of the exact same genre as Observer. While this could end up being another project altogether, the likelihood that this game ends up being Observer 2 seems to be quite high.

Observer first launched back in 2017 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One and was generally well-received by critics. A version of the game for Nintendo Switch also later arrived in early 2019.

If an Observer sequel is in the works, it’ll be interesting to see which direction Bloober Team decides to go in with it. Will it be a new story that is connected to that of the first game, or will it tell an entirely new tale in the same universe? Considering the events of the first game, and the fact that the lead character’s actor in Rutger Hauer passed away last year, I’d lean towards the latter possibility being the one that comes to fruition.

We’ll likely hear more about this upcoming project from Bloober Team in the near future, so stay tuned. If there are any new developments or announcements, we’ll be sure to let you know here at DualShockers.
