Nobunaga’s Ambition Series Passes 10 Million Shipments as it Celebrates 35th Anniversary

Koei Tecmo, Kou Shibusawa, Nobunaga's Ambition: Taishi, Originals, PC, Platforms, PS4, Switch

Today Koei Tecmo announced in a press release that the Nobunaga’s Ambition series of grand strategy games has passed ten million units shipped.

The series started in March 30th, 1983 with the release of the original Nobunaga’s Ambition, while the latest game released is Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, launched in 2017. Of course, this means that making the announcement today is not random, as the series is celebrating its 35th anniversary.

Koei Tecmo promises to continue to release games that will delight fans of historical simulation games. General Producer Kou Shibusawa also commented, mentioning that the trigger of the birth of the Nobunaga’s Ambition series was the “what if?” thoughts that history fans often have.

After completing the first game, Shibusawa-san himself tested it, and he remembers saying “we did it!” when he felt that it was even more fun than expected. We also get a personal promise from him to continue to produce games with new and exciting features, so fans should look forward to them.

If you’re curious about Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi, you can check out a semi-recent trailer. Unfortunately the game has not been localized in English yet, and we don’t have any information on whether it will.
