Today is the birthday of Goichi “Suda51” Suda, which normally wouldn’t be worth mentioning on its own merits, but this date happens to be a special one for the famed video game creator.

As of now, Suda51 is now as old as his name. Yes, today is the 51st birthday of Suda51 which means that for the next year, his name will also be reflective of his age. For those unaware, Suda51’s nickname is reflective of his first name, Goichi. In Japanese, “go” translates to the number 5 with “ichi” translating to 1.

Earlier this morning, Suda51 made light of today’s birthday himself over on Twitter. “As of today, I am now literally SUDA’51’,” he jokingly tweeted out. It’s clearly a birthday that he has been looking forward to for a while now.

Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture’s next game Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is slated to arrive later this month on January 18, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. From all of us here at DualShockers, happy birthday to you, Suda51.
