Square Enix announced that NieR Automata has now sold 4 million copies worldwide. This includes all of the game’s editions and versions. The game was at 3.5 million back in December. To celebrate, the Japanese YouTube account of Square Enix published a new NieR: Automata trailer, showing some of the game’s iconic moments, with cooly choreographed gameplay and one-liners delivered by all the popular seiyuu in the cast. It basically feels like an AMV. And yes, there are actually good AMVs out there, in case you were wondering.

Square Enix launched the NieR Automata: Game of the YoRHa Edition this February, boosting the game’s sales, and further installing it as a classic. This edition gives diehard fans and those who didn’t get to try out Yoko Taro’s latest console game yet a chance to experience it in its perfect form. The edition has all the DLC and stuff added since release.

Personally speaking, I can’t say I’m in awe in front of NieR: Automata and Yoko Taro. It’s a good game, but it’s not that good. The themes it explores with its story have already been seen and reviewed in many other places. I’d even say Kingdom Hearts handles the “what makes humans, humans?” thing better despite its well-known shortcomings. As an aficionado of Tactics Ogre, another game with character designs by Akihiko Yoshida, I’m really happy he got to work on such a popular game though. I hope he does more video games work in the future.

In any case, you can find the video below. You can grab NieR Automata on Amazon for around 30 dollars.
