New Prototype Footage of Canceled Prey 2 has Leaked

Bethesda Softworks, Human Head Studios, News, Originals, PC, Prey 2, PS3, Xbox 360

Before Prey was rebooted by Bethesda Softworks last year, a sequel to the original 2006 release of Prey had been in the works. Unfortunately, as you might already know, Prey 2 never saw the light of day. Despite being shown off a handful of times, news on Prey 2 eventually went quiet before officially being canceled in 2014.

For those still eulogizing the game’s cancellation, new prototype footage of Prey 2 was recently leaked thanks to one Andrew Borman. About one minute of footage was sent to Borman, who serves as the Digital Games Curator at the Museum of Play in New York. Borman said that the video in question has nothing to do with his job and also stated that he looks forward to having more to share in the future.

The video mainly shows off combat that would have been featured in Prey 2 in addition to a handful of guns that players would have had at their disposal. We also get some cool looks at the game’s setting which was going to take place on a dystopian alien planet. None of this is much different from what we had already seen of Prey 2 in the past, but it’s cool nonetheless simply because there’s likely not much footage of the game left.

You can find the original tweet from Borman below along with the footage of Prey 2 embedded. Prey 2 is scheduled to never release and will not be coming to any platforms because, you know, it’s canceled. Luckily, the current Prey reboot could be receiving some DLC in the future if teases from developer Arkane Studios is any indication.
