Today, 2K Sports and Visual Concepts revealed that this year’s cover athlete for NBA 2K19 will be none other than Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Joining the NBA back in 2013 at the age of 18, Antetokounmpo has quickly risen through the ranks to become one of the league’s most athletic and versatile players. The past two seasons have seen Antetokounmpo hit his stride as he has been an All-Atar in back-to-back seasons along with being elected to the All-NBA Second Team each year. He has also helped lead the Bucks to the playoffs in three seasons since joining the team.

The announcement of Antetokounmpo gracing NBA 2K19’s cover marks the first time that an international player has been on the game’s cover. Antetokounmpo, who grew up in Athens, Greece, is known more casually around the league as the Greek Freak — a callback to both his home country and his freakish size and stature.

Antetokounmpo will join LeBron James as the cover athletes of NBA 2K19 as James was revealed early last month to be on the box art for the 20th Anniversary Edition of the game. While James recently signed a new contract with the Los Angeles Lakers just last night, he will not be representing his new squad on this cover since his appearance is just a profile shot of his head.

NBA 2K19 is scheduled to release worldwide later this year on September 11 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. Currently, you can head over to Amazon to pre-order a copy early.
