If you’ve been wondering what’s gonna happen to Square Enix’s biggest MMO when the PS5 will be launching at the end of 2020, we have an answer now. Final Fantasy XIV Producer Naoki Yoshida was in London this week for the Final Fantasy XIV London Fan Gathering. During his elocution there, he most notably mentioned the FF XIV development team is working on a PS5 version of Final Fantasy XIV.

This piece of news was reported by the Final Fantasy UK Fan Community, as you can see in the tweet below:

It’ll be interesting to see if the other MMO from Square Enix, The Japanese-only Dragon Quest X, might get a PS5 release too.

Final Fantasy XIV just got an event related to NieR Automata. I personally find it funny how the game basically adds whatsoever is popular from every single Final Fantasy game and beyond. Like all the Ivalice-related event, which called back Matsuno and even had Tactics Ogre references. I bet a huge event based on Final Fantasy VII will be added when the FF VII Remake launches in March.

Speaking of which, Final Fantasy VII Remake recently got a pretty nice short movie we translated. And last week, Japanese news sites also reported that Tifa’s voice actress Ayumi Ito was a victim of death threats. This kind of harassment regularly happens and it’s one of the many problems of the entertainment industry in Japan.

Naoki Yoshida is also at the head of an undisclosed Triple A project at Square Enix.
