Developer NetherRealm’s community manager Tyler Lansdown revealed via Twitter that the team will be giving us a look at Mortal Kombat 11‘s Shao Kahn on the next iteration of the studio’s “Kombat Kast”. Shao Kahn is included as a pre-order bonus for the upcoming game, but many are anxious to see what the former final boss is bringing to the table in this go-around.

NetherRealm’s “Kombat Kast” is a weekly YouTube show that the devs use to show off characters and talk about the upcoming game. Last week, they revealed the first footage of fan favorite Kitana and detailed their plan for “time crystals“, a premium currency that you can use to purchase cosmetic gear for real-world money. And it looks like they plan to finish these “Kasts” with a bang.

The April 22 “Kombat Kast” will be the last one before the game releases on April 23rd. Finishing up with Shao Kahn should be fun. Fans will remember that he was the final boss in Mortal Kombat II and III. He returned to that role when they reset the timeline in Mortal Kombat (2011) and now he’s MK11′s pre-order character.

Unlike Goro in Mortal Kombat X, Shao Kahn will play a role in the story. Meaning that players will likely see him in the game regardless of if they pre-order or not.

Outside of Shao Kahn, there are still a few un-revealed characters that could make an appearance at this last “Kombat Kast”. The Mortal Kombat website still has six locked character slots, so it’s possible that one or more of them might be announced alongside Shao Kahn’s breakdown.

Fans won’t have to wait long to play Mortal Kombat 11 themselves. The game releases on April 23rd for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
