Before showing off the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne at E3 2019, Capcom has decided to release story details and a brand new story-focused trailer for the expansion that Capcom says will feature a “deep content offering that rivals the volume of the original release of Monster Hunter: World.” You can check out the story trailer below.

While Monster Hunter World: Iceborne houses a lot of content, the developers have specified that players must have completed the main story of Monster Hunter: World and achieved Hunter Rank 16 before they can access the expansion story content. This also means that Iceborne is not a standalone expansion so players must pick up and complete the base game if they want to see all of this new content.

As for the story of Monter Hunter World: Iceborne, it follows the Research Commission as they explore the frigid Hoarfrost Reach from Seliana, their base of operations. One of the major monsters players are tracking down is called the Shrieking Legiana, which is “covered in a white frost which it uses to freeze the air around it and seriously attack hunters.” The Tigrex and other monsters from previous Monster Hunter games that did not not make an appearance in World’s base game were also teased. As Hoarfrost Reach will the largest map in Monster Hunter: World, it definitely seems like there will be $39.99 worth of content for players to sink their teeth into here.

Capcom has also detailed what exactly their E3 2019 demo will entail. It contains three quests: the Great Jagras from the base game for newcomers, the Banbaro wybern for intermediate players, and Tigrex for the best players. Players will have access to all 14 weapon types as well, so this definitely seems like a good gameplay offering if you are attending E3 this year.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is releasing for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 6, 2019. The expansion itself will cost $39.99, though those of us who haven’t picked up the game yet can pre-order the $60 Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition on Amazon to net the base game as well.
