During Microsoft’s E3 press conference, Mojang announced that they would be bringing cross-platform play to Minecraft for all consoles and devices.
The trailer showed off new massive servers as well that will be able to host more players than Minecraft’s current console lobbies.
Mojang also announced that Minecraft will be in 4K exclusively on Xbox One X. A brand new Super Duper Graphics Pack is also being released, albeit it’s not confirmed whether or not this pack will be exclusive to Xbox One X.
The Super Duper Graphics Pack makes Minecraft look like an entirely different game… that is still block based. But generally much better looking.
The “Better Together” update is coming to Minecraft this Summer. Check out the official trailer below.
Update: according to an official post by Mojang, cross-platform gameplay will only involve Windows 10, iOS, Android, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and VR devices. PS4, PS Vita and Wii U appear not to be included.
