Minecraft Dungeons Has Dethroned Animal Crossing From the Best Sellers Page on the US eShop

Animal Crossing, Minecraft, Minecraft: Dungeons, News, Nintendo Switch, Originals, Switch

Animal Crossing had a remarkable run. It has broken plenty of Switch sales records and dominated the charts for months. That is until Minecraft Dungeons has come in and taken the crown as the current best selling game on the US eShop.

Per Benji-Sales, Minecraft Dungeons is now sitting pretty at the number one spot on the best sellers page on the US eShop. Animal Crossing has now shifted to the number 2 spot on the list after dominating the chart since early March. That is about 3 months of holding the crown.

It just goes to show the pull the Minecraft audience has on the gaming industry. I mean, the game has gone on to sell over 200 million freaking copies with 126 million people playing monthly. I think it is safe to say that if Minecraft is in the name, the game will probably go on to sell well. But, I don’t want to take credit away from Minecraft Dungeons because from what I hear, it is a great experience and a fun romp. I am looking forward to jumping into it once I finally get the time to do so.

Animal Crossing had its time. It broke plenty of records and I think released at the best time possible. Just as everyone was beginning to stay at home to quarantine, this game released. I know the game would have sold regardless, but I certainly think everyone staying at home helped just a bit.

Minecraft Dungeons is currently available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and is also an Xbox Game Pass title. For those of you who are on the fence on if you want to pick it up or dive into it through your Game Pass membership, make sure to check out DualShockers’ review of the game right here.
