It seems like a new video game wing of Lucasfilm could soon be returning if new job postings are any indication.

Over the past few days, Disney has posted a variety of new jobs all belonging to the division of “Lucasfilm Games.” For those unaware, Lucasfilm Games was the original name of the gaming sector of Lucasfilm before it was later rebranded into LucasArts in the 1990s. While LucasArts was eventually closed by Disney in 2013 after the company purchased the rights to the entirety of the Star Wars brand, these new job listings could indicate that the division could be returning in some manner.

The careers that are currently being hired for include producers, art leads, community managers, and even game designers. The posts state that these roles will be responsible for “managing the review and approval of interactive products that incorporate Lucasfilm IP, such as Star Wars film and television properties, across all digital platforms, including but not limited to: Mobile (iOS, Android, Windows), Console (Sony Playstation, Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo Switch), PC/Mac, and AR/VR platforms.” One of the jobs specifically states that the role is located out of Asia as well, which is somewhat odd.

As of now, it’s hard to know what these job postings could point to given that Disney has yet to make a formal announcement regarding the potential return of Lucasfilm Games. Still, it’s hard not to find these listings interesting. Many fans have been pining for the return of Lucasfilm Games since LucasArts closed back in 2013. While this might not be exactly what is happening here, it’s hard not to get carried away with hopes of the division’s return. Currently, the Star Wars brand specifically is still under EA’s guidance.

Even though Disney’s Bob Iger recently said that he never thought they did too well at publishing games, maybe these jobs could be the first indication that the mega-company is looking to get more directly back into the business of video game creation.
