Tokyo RPG Factory’s successor to I am Setsuna, Lost Sphear, won’t be launching until 2018, but today, Square Enix unveiled a brand new trailer, featuring the game’s mysterious world and its cast of characters’ role within it.
In the trailer, which can be found at the end of this article, we see some details on Kanata, the game’s main character, and his ability to restore memories to the world. We learn that in this world, the elements that are forgotten become known as the “lost,” and that they leave blank space where they have disappeared. The trailer concludes by revealing a legend that says “the moon created the world.”
Lost Sphear is expected to launch for PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch on January 23, 2018. For more information on the game, you are encouraged to visit the developer’s official website.
Recently, DualShockers’ own Jordan Boyd got hands-on with Lost Sphear, finding its combat to be exhilarating and the open world to be a beauty.
We also sat down with Lost Sphear‘s director Atsushi Hashimoto to ask him a few questions about the game’s ongoing development. In addition to getting a perspective on the team’s methodology for game development, Hashimoto-san also revealed new gameplay elements such as the overworld map, as well as the central nature of certain peripheral characters.
