The half-genie platformer Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is getting a physical edition distributed by Limited Run. Fans of the series can start pre-ordering either the Standard Edition or the Collector’s Edition on December 7.
The standard edition comes in a normal Nintendo Switch case with the same box art from the Nintendo 3DS version. Limited Run notes that the physical edition will have a full-color manual booklet and inside-art as well. They haven’t detailed the collector’s edition of the game yet. However, Limited Run has put together some great and affordable collector’s editions so it’ll be interesting to see what they make.
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse originally released back in 2014 on the Nintendo 3DS and other consoles of the last generation. The game has the half-genie Shantae team up with her nemesis, Risky Boots, to defeat the Pirate Master. The platformer received positive reception for its strong retro-platforming and excellent level design.
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse released on the Switch’s Nintendo eShop earlier this year, though no physical edition ever released. No price has been announced either, though I imagine that will come later this week. The limited pre-order run will go from December 7-21 with a small number of copies being available for sale after the release.
