As far as PS4 exclusive titles go, Marvel’s Spider-Man is one of the most anticipated titles heading to the system later this year, and aside from seeing what Insomniac Games does with the character this fall, we’ll also get to see a little more from the webslinger as part of the larger Marvel Comics universe.
Over at Polygon, Marvel has announced that the upcoming Spider-Man focused Marvel Comics event, Spidergeddon, will be including Insomniac Games’ version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man that we’ll see debut later this fall.
The limited-run event will feature many iterations of Spider-Man that we’ve seen over the past few decades banding together to take on an (at this time) unknown threat, and which will apparently include the version that we’ll see from his next upcoming video game from Insomniac Games.
The comic itself is being written by Christos Gage, who is also working as one of the writers on Insomniac’s upcoming game. As far as incorporating the developer’s take on Spider-Man into the Marvel Comics universe, Gage explained that it “seemed like a perfect time to bring that Pete into the mix,” and that his appearance will be more than “shoehorning a character in where he doesn’t belong.” Story-wise, Spidergeddon will take place after the events of Insomniac’s game, and the first issue of the series will be releasing on September 26th, 2018.
