Almost four months have passed since the release of Tamaki in Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation.
The new waifu has eluded fans unwilling to pay for the privilege to try their luck at unlocking her since. Either she was locked behind a paywall or she was gone from the available gacha altogether.
The situation finally changed with this week’s update. An SSR outfit to unlock Tamaki is part of the gacha, alongside one for Helena and one for Momiji.
Now, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that this gacha requires no real money and can be attempted with the V-stones that you can get simply by playing. The bad news is that with three featured SSR swimsuit, your chance to get Tamaki’s is only 0.25%. That being said, it’s certainly better than a paywall.
There are two more gacha featured this week. One gives you still rather indecent 0.77% chance of unlocking the previous new character Luna. The second is unfortunately still behind a paywall, giving you a meager 0.77% chance of unlocking the latest new character Leifang.
If Tamaki is any indication, it’ll be quite a while before Leifang will be rotated into gacha that don’t require real money.
On top of the gacha, we also get the addition of the summery Watermelon Split activity. By taking part in event matches you can win watermelons that you can gift to your girls. You’ll be treated to a scene in which they split it, and you’ll receive prizes including evolution stones, VIP coins, and more. By gifting ten watermelons to any specific girl you can also unlock an SR face accessory in the shape of a blindfold reproducing her eyes.
The event will be available until August 1st, with prizes redeemable until August 8th.
