With E3 on the horizon, many publishers and studios are amping up their hype machines to get fans excited about the new titles that are on the horizon. Warner Bros. Games was planning for a surprise reveal later this week, though the “surprise,” as it turns out, apparently will be Hitman 2.

Over on ResetEra, a forum post (from member “Luna”) detailed that a logo file for Hitman 2 was discovered in the source code for Warner Bros. Games’ site (which you can find up above) where it was scheduled to have a reveal livestream later this week, as announced by the publisher earlier today.

Both the official Hitman account and WB Games teased that an announcement was imminent that tied into the series, especially with E3 on the horizon. However, now it’s clear as day that fans of the 2016 iteration of Hitman will be getting what looks like a full-blown sequel to the game, instead of another “Season” of new content like the previous game employed.

No official confirmation has come yet from Warner Bros. Games or developer IO Interactive on the sequel, but it seems all too likely that come Thursday, we’ll get a new look at what’s in store from Agent 47’s next assignment.
