They may be passé at this point in time, but reading instruction manuals immediately after bringing a new video game home was one of my simple joys of life. With everything being digital and quite bland these days, that novelty has worn out. One user on subreddit /r/smashbros however, has tapped into that nostalgia by creating their own manual for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

User/u/OharaLibrarianArtur utilized assets straight from the official Smash Bros. website, to great effect. The fan-made booklet looks close to something official, from all of the legal notices to the table of contents, and even pages at the end devoted for hand-written notes. If I were to open up my old copies of Melee and Brawl, I would probably find this Ultimate project to look very similar to those.

With so many new characters and game modes to go through, this instruction manual would probably be pretty thick if printed out for real—I doubt it could even fit in a Nintendo Switch game case. It goes to show both how hard the development team worked to pack Super Smash Bros. Ultimate full of content and how devoted Smash Bros. fans are to the series they love to provide such an authentic fan experience.

You can check out the entire manual for yourself below through Imgur. Meanwhile, Ultimate will have a cross-promotion with Pokémon: Let’s Go, and several new official gameplay videos are now out in the open. You can pre-order the game before its December 7 release on Amazon.
