It’s been a rough year for game developers around the globe as many studios have had to pivot to working from home on upcoming video games in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As such, development timelines for many have been changing and numerous games have seen delays. In the case of this year’s upcoming launch of Halo Infinite, however, the team at Xbox has said that the game is still on track to launch on time.

In a new post on the official Xbox website today, Microsoft made clear that the release of Halo Infinite from 343 Industries is still slated to arrive this year alongside the arrival of the Xbox Series X, at least for now. “Our goal remains to launch Xbox Series X and Halo Infinite this Holiday,” said the blog post written by Xbox’s Jerret West. The way this message is written, it seems to indicate that things could change, but for now, Microsoft doesn’t expect this to be the case.

This isn’t the first time that the team at Xbox has reiterated that Halo Infinite will be arriving this year, too. Only about a month ago, Xbox Game Studios Head Matt Booty said that many teams that belong to Microsoft have been facing “unique challenges” when it comes to the development of their projects while working from home. It was also stated then at the time that Infinite would indeed be coming in 2020.

As for when we might actually see more of Halo Infinite, it sounds as though Microsoft is planning to show off more of the title in July. Earlier today, it was unveiled that as part of the ongoing Xbox 20/20 series, first-party titles from Xbox Game Studios are expected to be shown more to the public this summer in July. Comparatively, this week’s coming edition of Inside Xbox which will show off games for the Xbox Series X platform will instead seem to focus on third-party published titles, such as the newly revealed Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Whenever the team at Microsoft opts to formally reveal the launch date of the Xbox Series X, it seems likely that more news on Halo Infinite will be given as well. Halo Infinite will also be arriving on Xbox One and PC when it releases this holiday season.
