Marcus Lehto, President and Game Director at V1 Interactive as well as the co-creator of the Halo universe and of Master Chief himself, uncovered an interesting surprise. Apparently Lehto found all the old cinematics for Halo 2 on a random old hard drive he found in his attic, so he decided to share one of them with us:

Honestly it’s really cool to see something as iconic as anything from the Halo franchise in such an early state. Even if the results are slightly cringy due to the graphics and placeholder voice acting. Hopefully Lehto uncovers more from that hard drive and shares them on social media sometime soon.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection (which sold almost 2 million copies on Steam) contains Halo: Reach for the first time, with the game’s multiplayer being made available for free and the Campaign and Firefight being a separate purchase. 343 Industries even enlisted the help of external studios Splash Damage and Ruffian to help bring it over to PC to insure the port’s quality.

The studio also held a massive one time migration of players’ file shares from Halo 3, 4, and Reach to The Master Chief Collection, which hold player-created maps and game types. Said migration occurred back in August 12th for the player game types and August 26th for the maps.

The next entry of the franchise, Halo Infinitewas announced last year at E3 during the Xbox Press Briefing. We got a new trailer for the game this year, but unfortunately, no gameplay was shown. It’s set to release next year on Xbox One, PC, and the forthcoming next-gen console Xbox Scarlett. The title will also have beta phases releasing up until its launch, with them arriving first for Xbox One. PC players will have access to these betas as well and 343 Industries assures that the PC platform will be treated as a “first class citizen.”

A few months back, it was revealed that Halo Infinite Creative Director Tim Longo had departed from the studio. In his absence, Mary Olson was then promoted to Lead Producer for Infinite’s campaign team. A mere two months later though, and now Olson herself has also left 343 Industries.
