Cygames held the Granblue Fantasy Fes 2019 this weekend, on December 14-15. It’s an annual, huge event held in Japan for fans of the franchise, whose mobile RPG is among the most popular mobage in the world. During the event, Cygames shared new trailers and gameplay, revealing Lancelot, Vane, Percival, and Siegfried as playable characters. Granblue Fantasy Relink Director Tetsuya Fukuhara also shared a development update, most notably details about the game’s release date.

As you already know, Granblue Fantasy Relink was initially produced by both Cygames and Platinum Games. However, in early 2019, Granblue Fantasy Relink switched to a 100% Cygames in-house production, with Platinum Games leaving the project. At the Granblue Fantasy Fes 2019, Director Tetsuya Fukuhara explained that since then, Cygames has been working on Granblue Fantasy Relink‘s engine, improving it, and they’re not done yet. The game will look even more beautiful at release than what we’ve seen in the new gameplay video.

We also learned that Cygames obviously has a release date in mind for Granblue Fantasy Relink. However, the release date will only be announced when the game is ready, just before its launch. That way, the game won’t be suffering from public delays and players will get to play it as soon as possible after getting hyped when the release date is finally public.

Director Fukuhara also reassured Granblue Fantasy fans, mentioning that some might be anxious, thinking Cygames can’t do Action games. However, Granblue Fantasy Relink‘s development is going well, as seen with the new trailer and gameplay.

Personally speaking, Granblue Fantasy Relink is one of my most anticipated games so I’m really eager for it. It’s just a guess, but seeing Granblue Fantasy Versus is coming on February 6 in Japan, Relink will probably launch a bit later, in later 2020.  In any case, we’ll be sure to tell you as soon as possible when we learn more. We might not be the fastest news outlet out there, but we’ll always bring you pertinent, translated details when it comes to Japanese games.
