God of War: Ragnarok is one of 2021’s most anticipated games. It was met with palpable hype when it was officially revealed during Sony’s The Future of Gaming PS5 Showcase and the game scooped up DualShockers’ Most Anticipated Game – Readers’ Choice award last year.

While it is already in good hands, Sony Santa Monica Studios and God of War: Ragnarok have just been handed a big boost, in the form of a very experienced sound designer. Beau Anthony Jiminez, whose previous credits include Sony classics such as The Last of Us Part II and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, has confirmed on Twitter that he is joining the God of War team.

In his tweet, he said:

“Honored to help contribute to PlayStation’s tradition of pushing the industry forward with iconic-sounding experiences… starting with the next God of War title!”

Jiminez’s other work includes The Witness, Destiny 2 and Ori and the Blind Forest so he undoubtedly brings a raft of talent to what is already one of video games’ most prestigious studios.

This isn’t the only hire Santa Monica Studios has made recently either. Back in November, it was confirmed that internet personality/voice actor/writer Alanah Pearce was also joining the studio.

While the game is scheduled to receive a PS5 release at some point this year, it’s still unclear whether God of War: Ragnarok will be releasing on the PS4. When questioned on it last year, PlayStation head Jim Ryan said “Sorry. I’ve got nothing to say about that today,” and recent rumours on the topic appear to be just that.

Either way, this is more great news for Ragnarok and it is certainly shaping up to be a fantastic game. Keep your eyes peeled on DualShockers for any God of War: Ragnarok and PS5 news as it drops.
