Yesterday, Netflix announced that Mission Impossible: Fallout star Henry Cavill would be portraying Geralt of Rivia in the streaming service’s upcoming series based on The Witcher, a popular book series and video game franchise. While many seemed happy with the casting, there is no denying that Geralt’s iconic voice is that of Doug Cockle.
While the voice actor previously stated that he was not associated with the series in any way, he did still voice his support for Henry Cavill’s casting on Twitter today. While he admits that Henry Cavill won’t copy him and will make the role of Geralt of Rivia his own, he is still excited to see what the creative team at Netflix comes up with.
People keep asking… so… let me go on record saying I think that #HenryCavill will do a great job as #GeraltOfRivia ! He’ll make it his own of course, as well he should, and I can’t wait to see what @LHissrich and the whole @netflix team create. It’s gonna be #Magic 😀🦄
