In a Warner Bros. internship listing, upcoming games from Warner Bros. Interactive will have a “heavy focus on live service.” For those who don’t know, a game having live service elements means games will be frequently updated with more story content, features, and items.

“WBIE is currently involved in a variety of new projects, ranging from casual games to core games featuring our well-known franchises on all platforms (console, digital, mobile) with a heavy focus on live service,” says the internship description. All of this would provide for a well-rounded experience at an exciting game publishing studio making its mark on the industry.”

Warner Bros. Interactive has several games coming now through 2022. This year, WB will release games like Back 4 Blood, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, and Gotham Knights. As for 2022, they’ll release Hogwarts Legacy and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Of those, it’s possible that Back 4 Blood will include some live service elements. It’s primarily a multiplayer game that could lend itself well to continual updates. While it’s unclear what Netherrealm Games is working on, their upcoming games could possibly include live service features since they’ve done similar things before. Their previous games are Mortal Kombat 11 and Injustice 2.

Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League were announced last August. Both games feature four-player multiplayer but you can also play it solo. More recently, Gotham Knights developer WB Games Montreal released new details on the game’s co-op. As for Suicide Squad, we haven’t heard new details since its reveal.

Besides DC Comics games, it was recently announced that Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will include 300 playable characters. Additionally, Hogwarts Legacy has recently been delayed from summer 2021 to sometime in 2022.

Back 4 Blood is the main Warner Bros. game with a confirmed release date. It releases on June 18 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga releases this spring on those consoles plus the Switch. As we get more details on WB’s games, we’ll be sure to let you know.
