Fortnite has always felt like a slog, running from point-to-point across the map. At one point, Epic Games introduced an update that brought boats to the game and saw players boosting the boats on land rather than water because…it’s more fun to ride a boat than run. Yesterday, Epic Games confirmed that cars are heading to the Battle Royale title.

Cars have been speculated to be heading to the game already after Twitter user HypeX leaked that cars were due to launch on July 21. However, on July 23, the Fortnite account said the update wouldn’t be coming for another few weeks, but it was enough confirmation that cars were indeed heading to the game.

Due to arrive on August 5, Fortnite’s Joy Ride update will be introducing driveable vehicles. More information should be revealed when the update goes live but for now, we know that the first car to be revealed is the Whiplash. The tweet specifies it isn’t just a name, but a warning. Who reckons it’ll have a bunch of horsepowers or be good at drifting?

According to Gamesradar, there are in-game posters scattered around the map which could be teasing the arrival of other vehicles. There’s the above vehicle, one called the Prevalent, one called Bear, and another called Mudflap. Gamesradar suggests that each vehicle may come with their own pros and cons. Additionally, leaks have suggested that gas stations across the map will become handy, pointing toward players needing to refill their fuel.

Fortnite is available on pretty much every platform these days for free, and it’ll be heading to next-generation platforms later this year. The Joy Ride update should land on August 5 and more details about the update will be revealed then.
