Publisher Curve Digital and developer IronOak Games announced For The King will be coming out of early access in April with PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions set to launch in early 2019.

For The King is a rogue-like RPG — mixing gameplay elements from JRPGs and strategy games — where you’ll explore and fight within the kingdom of Fahrul to avenge your murdered King. The maps, quests, and events are procedurally generated making each playthrough feel new and unique. The game will feature solo and co-op (local and online) play so you can face the various creatures alone or with a friend.

Established in 2015, IronOak Games is based in Vancouver, Canada and is made up of developers who have worked on games such as Sleeping Dogs, Dead Rising, and Need for Speed. For The King will be the first game the developer releases. This is what Colby Young, Game Designer at IronOak Games, has to say about the game:

For The King is a passion project for us and very much an homage to the RPG genre. Early Access has been great for the game, allowing us to listen to fans and make the game as strong, polished and fun as possible. Now with its full release, and our new publishing deal with Curve, we can’t wait for more players to experience For The King.”

A Kickstarter campaign for For The King began in 2015 where it smashed its funding goal of $30,000 hitting $87,500. The game then entered early access exactly one year ago where it was priced at $14.99. Once the game fully releases for PC in April, that price will increase to $19.99.
