If you’re on the lookout for a calming game to play and keep your brain distracted but engaged, you can’t go wrong with Afterburn’s food-based puzzler inbento. The game has been out on mobile for a bit now but is making its way to Nintendo Switch. It mixes tricky puzzles with incredibly charming visuals and music for a bento box full of fun. Give it a look below.

inbento is the second puzzle-based game from Afterburn. The first, Golf Peaks, made golf into a mind-bending, card game that is devilishly fun to puzzle your way through. inbento takes a similar formula but does more than enough to change things up.

You play as a family of cute cats putting together their lunch for the day. To do so, you have to build very specific bento boxes. I’m not sure why they need to be in the exact order the game wants them. My personal headcanon is that your cat family members are just incredibly particular about their rice. Anyways, to maneuver the different blocks of food into the correct places, you’ll need to correctly put in orders from the cards you have at hand.

In a lot of ways, it reminds me of a programming game from the board gaming world. You’re inputting orders and have to correctly decipher which ones need to go in what order. I’ve actually played both Afterburn games to their completion on mobile, and inbento is my favorite of the two. There’s something about the charming visuals and the mind-tingling puzzles that kept me coming back for more. If you’re, say, stuck at home with nothing to do, inbento might be the perfect game to take your mind off of the world for a weekend.

inbento is available now on Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch.
