Final Fantasy XIV’s New Year Event Grants the Cutest Samurai Helmets Ever

Final Fantasy XIV, News, Originals, PC, PS4, Square-Enix

Final Fantasy XIV is preparing to celebrate the New Year with its traditional Heavensturn event, which will grant players with the usual “Kabuto” samurai helmets that are given every year.

Those are a great way to show just how much of a veteran you are, and if you can sport one of the original rabbit helmets from 2011 you can be as badass as me.

As you may have imagined, the helmets are themed after the year in the Chinese calendar, and that may cause some rather funny design “accidents” like in 2015 when people went around with a monkey’s bald ass on their head. No. I am not joking.

2018 is the year of the dog, and Square Enix decided to go the super-cute way, granting players black and white versions of the “Inu Kabuto” (Inu means “Dog” in Japanese), with some absolutely adorable Shiba Inu on top. We also get a stuffed dog with traditional Japanese shrine decorations for our houses.

The event will start tomorrow, December 31st, at 7 AM Pacific Time, and will end on January 15th, 2018.

Below  you can check out the celebratory art created for the occasion, and the rewards. The questline will start in Limsa Lominsa, on the Upper Decks.
