Today marks the beginning of Team of the Year in FIFA 21. The FUT promo is the biggest one of the year as EA takes the best players around the world and boosts their cards to the moon. While most players will never actually pack a TOTY card, it’s a fun promo because EA tends to drop several big SBCs to work your way through. Of course, we don’t yet know what those SBCs will be, but we do know who’s in the TOTY starting XI. They aren’t in packs just yet, but you can see the full team below.

That’s quite the squad, even if Lionel Messi isn’t in the TOTY for the first time ever. He’ll probably make the squad via the 12th man fan vote EA will inevitably release; however, he won’t be there on day one. That doesn’t mean you’ll be lacking in options though.

At attack, we have Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, and Kylian Mbappe. Of the three, I think Messi could’ve easily replaced Mbappe, but it’s not like the Frenchman had a bad season. If you’re hoping to pick one of these up on the market, Ronaldo and Mbappe are going to be ludicrously expensive. Lewandowski won’t be cheap either, but he doesn’t fit the meta nearly as well, so he might be a little more affordable.

In the midfield, we have Bruno Fernandes, Kevin de Bruyne, and Joshua Kimmich. I continue to be flabbergasted that Thomas Muller wasn’t even nominated, but EA’s going to EA, I suppose. The backline has several studs in Alphonso Davies, Sergio Ramos, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. And Manuel Neuer is tending goal.

Fortunately, we don’t have to wait much longer to try and get one. TOTY kicks off in FIFA 21 later today. If you haven’t picked the game up yet, it’s available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
