In the busiest week of new releases of 2019 so far, Ubisoft’s Far Cry New Dawn has come out ahead of the rest.

For the seventh week of the year, Far Cry New Dawn topped the rest of last week’s new releases on the weekly UK sales chart. That being said though, it wasn’t an overly impressive debut. According to GamesIndustry.bizFar Cry New Dawn are down by 86% compared to last year’s release of Far Cry 5. Even when compared more appropriately to another spin-off in the series, New Dawn sold nearly four times less than that of Far Cry Primal in its debut week.

Coming in at second this week is that of Metro Exodus, which only missed out on the first place position by about 2000 units. Exodus had a better debut week in the UK compared to that of the previous entry in the series, Last Light, which released back in 2013.

Bandai Namco’s Jump Force was one other release that debuted last week and found itself appearing at number four. Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 finished ahead of Jump Force at number 3 last week while FIFA 19 rounded out the top five.

Lastly, as far as new releases go, Microsoft’s Crackdown 3 failed to make the top ten on the UK sales chart last week and debuted at number 13. It’s a weaker launch than many may have expected, but it also comes with a rather large caveat. Since Crackdown 3 was available at launch via Xbox Game Pass, it is likely that many opted to play the game via this subscription service rather than outright purchase the game. While we don’t have specific numbers yet detailing the number of downloads through Game Pass, you’d have to imagine it is this reason as to why saw Crackdown 3 have a softer launch compared to others.
