After announcing an indefinite delay for the release date of Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine in 2021 in a recent financial report by Ubisoft, now Microsoft Store has revealed that the next Far Cry will be available on May 25, instead of its original February release date.

The new release date for Far Cry 6 matches the period that was announced by Ubisoft for the game’s launch after the delay. If it turns out to be true, it means the game has been delayed for over two months, which is not a big deal in the current situation of development studios.

Officially announced during this year’s Ubisoft Forward event, Far Cry 6 will offer another bloody raid against a brutal dominant regime in a tropical country. Starring Giancarlo Esposito as the main antagonist, the new iteration of the game seems to have a dark and serious tone in the story, with some mysterious connections to Far Cry 3.

Except for some screenshots, we haven’t seen anything from the gameplay of Far Cry 6 yet, but the game’s official Twitter account posted a contrary tweet about Diego being the younger Vaas in the new entry and ignited the rumors around this once again. This tweet after a while probably means there are some new details on the way around the game. With The Game Awards 2020 going live earlier in December, it might not be surprising to see a brand new trailer of the next Far Cry premiering at the show.

Far Cry 6 will be a cross-gen title, launching for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS4, PS5, and PC. The game will support a free upgrade to the next-gen consoles, so don’t worry about pre-purchasing it on your Xbox One or PS4 if you’re planning to buy a next-gen version of your current console in the future.
