Bethesda announced the Fallout 76 Wastelanders expansion has been delayed again.

This isn’t the first time the Wastelanders expansion has been delayed. It was first announced along with Nuclear WinterFallout 76‘s battle royale mode, at E3 2019. It was then delayed in October as the game launched paid private servers. This time around, Bethesda’s reasoning behind delaying the long-awaited expansion is much more understandable. According to a post on the company’s Twitter page, the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has taken its toll on development for Fallout 76’s Wastelanders expansion.

It’s reassuring to hear that Bethesda is letting its employees work from home, and even more so that Wastelanders won’t be delayed too long. According to the post, “final testing” is all that needs to be done before the expansion is ready to ship. However, due to new work constraints, that final testing will come at the cost of one more week’s time. As of right now, players will be getting the Wastelanders expansion on April 14.

So, what will be coming when the Fallout 76 Wastelanders expansion launches in April? Well, tons of things, but they’re all under the umbrella of human NPCs. This change is one of the most demanded among the Fallout 76 player base and brings with it numerous new gameplay features. Human NPCs will offer quests, be vendors and have dialogue options with added skill checks. These are all staples of the Fallout franchise that are finally making their way to 76 nearly two years post-launch.

All things considered, an extra week to make sure everything in Wastelanders works well isn’t too bad. Considering Fallout 76‘s history of bugs, game-breaking or otherwise, this may end up being for the best. If now seems like a good time to get into Fallout 76, you can pick up a copy on Bethesda’s website here.
