Though Fallout 76 didn’t start in the best place when it first launched, developer Bethesda Game Studios has worked tirelessly to deliver an experience that fans of the online game will continue to be happy with and to bring the experience closer to what traditional Fallout fans have hoped for. The upcoming “Wastelanders” update seems to be addressing many of these concerns, and now Fallout 76 is finally set to arrive on Steam for a whole new group of players to explore the wastelands together.

Bethesda Softworks has officially announced that Fallout 76 will be heading to Steam on April 14, 2020 to coincide with the launch of the upcoming “Wastelanders” update that brings major new content updates to the game. According to the company, the Steam version will entail “the entire game (including Wastelanders),” bringing it to parity with the game’s original PC release on the Bethesda.net Launcher.

Bethesda also detailed that the company will be offering players that purchased the game on Bethesda.net to receive the Steam version of the game for free. From now through April 12, Fallout 76 can link their Bethesda.net and Steam accounts by clicking here and will receive the Steam version for free once it launches on April 14. All in-game will carry over between the Bethesda.net and Steam versions of the game, but Bethesda clarified that players’ Atoms and Fallout 1st memberships will not transfer.

In addition to the free Steam copy offer, Bethesda is also incentivizing purchases of Fallout 76 on Steam by offering a free copy of the Fallout Classic Collection on Steam, which includes the original FalloutFallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. Players can get the collection by purchasing Fallout 76 on Steam from April 14-28, and those that own the game on Bethesda.net will also receive the collection on Steam when redeeming a free copy.

While Fallout 76 had a rough launch when it first released in late 2018, Bethesda Game Studios has steadily been improving the game’s infrastructure through new content and frequent updates. The upcoming “Wastelanders” update marks one of the biggest updates that the game has seen yet. As a full-on expansion, “Wastelanders” is set to introduce several fan-requested features and improvements, including fully-voiced NPCs, a new main storyline quest, new locations, weapons, and enemies, and much more. The “Wastelanders” expansion will arrive as a free update when it launches later this month for all players on consoles and PC.

Fallout 76 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
