Falcom teased in a mysterious way that an announcement regarding the Kiseki/Trails series would be coming on November 7. What ended up happening is that the small Japanese studio published its latest financial earnings. We learned multiple details regarding Falcom’s upcoming plans through the document.

First off, Falcom mentioned how the next game in the Kiseki series will be launching by September 2020. Falcom usually releases one game a year at the end of September. This might mean Falcom will release a game before September 2020. This would coincide with how two Kiseki games are currently in development, a “Trails of Cold Steel Gaiden”-like game, which will release first, and the next main entry.

Falcom also stated in the document that in the future, “upgrades” of older Kiseki games will release on PS4 as “Kai” versions. This hints that the previously teased PS4 versions of Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki are coming soon, and are actual remakes. These games were teased during the Kiseki Series 15th anniversary stream, which we translated here. And these PS4 versions might be coming west one day. Meanwhile, we just got Trails of Cold Steel III in the west thanks to NIS America. You should check our interview with Toshihiro Kondo to learn more.

Lastly, Falcom stated they will keep developing challenging games on home consoles for the Kiseki/Trails series and the Ys series. As for raw numbers, we also learned that the Kiseki/Trails series has now sold over 4.3 million copies worldwide.

Falcom’s financial earnings are available here and here.
