After years of silence, finally, the official Twitter account of Everywhere shared a new bit of information about the game lately, confirming that it is being developed on Unreal Engine.

Leslie Benzies was one of the key people behind the Grand Theft Auto series since the third mainline entry of the franchise. He was the lead developer and designer behind GTA 3, GTA San Andreas, GTA IV, and GTA V. With such a great portfolio of work at Rockstar Games, he left the company after the launch of Grand Theft Auto V and sued at Take-Two Interactive later over unpaid royalties. Since the time Benzies left Rockstar Games, he started his new indiependant studio in Scotland with two other ex-Rockstar employees and announced his first project as Everywhere.

Since 2017 we haven’t heard anything about the game or its development process until a few months ago when we found out that some Chinese investors have already funded the Everywhere project by a considerable amount of money. Following that, the latest tweet from the game’s official Twitter account confirmed that the project is still under development and it’s powered by Unreal Engine. Along with this announcement, Leslie Benzies said:

Over the past four years, we have been able to build a great team at Build A Rocket Boy, and the development of the game has progressed well. Everywhere is now running on Unreal Engine. The engine’s tech advances over the last two years, and Epic Games’ roadmap provides us a great opportunity to create a game built on a foundation that will remain at the forefront of the industry for years to come.

Everywhere doesn’t have a certain platform or release date yet. The game is said to feature some never-before-seen gameplay elements and co-operative mechanics, which make it a very distinct experience compared to other story-driven open-world games.
