Square Enix featured Dragon Quest Builders 2 during a stage event at Tokyo Game Show 2018, showing almost one hour of live gameplay.

The gameplay session starts by showing off one of the many islands you’ll be able to explore in the game. You can quickly explore islands by dashing and jumping, though you should be wary of your stamina gauge. We get to see the action battle system, with characters in your party fighting alongside you, controlled by the AI. Some events can happen as well, as a character on the island suddenly calls for help.

Besides fighting, NPCs will also help you with your building work. For example, they tend to the fields with you, tidying them up and watering the crops, giving out some huge Story of Seasons vibes.

You can watch the around one-hour long gameplay video below. You can also take a look at recently released screenshots, and the game’s previous trailer and gameplay videos.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 will launch for PS4 and Switch in Japan on December 20th. A western release hasn’t been announced yet.
