One of the biggest surprises in the ramp-up of reveals about Dragon Ball FighterZ, is Android 21, a completely new character created for the game. At the moment, she is quite mysterious, but it’ll be interesting to see if her presence will remain contained in the game, or will expand to the wider Dragon Ball universe.

In order to know more, DualShockers asked Producer Tomoko Hiroki whether 21’s design was done with only the game in mind, or for a more lasting appeal.

Hiroki-san mentioned that 21 was designed specifically for the game, but she believes that if she becomes popular and the fans want to see her in other games or anime, the possibility exists and the team hopes this will be the case.

During the group interview at Bandai Namco’s interview in Shinagawa, Tokyo, we also heard that Android 21st was designed directly by Akira Toriyama based on the story requests made by the team at Bandai Namco.

Toriyama-sensei was asked to draw a female character, and he was provided indications on the story and her personality, but beyond that, he was provided with creative freedom.
