Bandai Namco and Marvelous announced the Japanese release date of Doraemon Nobita no Bokujou Monogatari. The game launches exclusively on Switch on June 13. The game wasn’t announced in the west yet but will probably come over at some point, seeing the overall popularity of both franchises.

A new trailer explaining the game’s story and gameplay systems was also revealed. Basically, Doraemon, Nobita and their friends got transported to another world, in a place called Season Town. They decided to live there while trying to find a way to get back to their original world. And Nobita, controlled by the player, is taking care of a farm lent by a cheerful boy called Lunch. The game’s story is themed around family love.

In the game, all of the usual tools found in Story of Seasons games are replaced by Doraemon’s tools. The upgraded versions of the tools have been lost by Doraemon, so players will need to obtain them by completing various objectives, like becoming friendlier with the town’s inhabitants. Doraemon’s most famous tool, the “Anywhere Door” will also allow players to fast-travel between certain points in the world.

The game also has a fishing system, a house decoration system, an insects capture-and-collect system, festivals, and different animals and pets to raise. All the usual mechanics found in Story of Seasons games are there. The important story dialogues are voiced as well.

At the beginning of the game, players will pretty much only be able to do farm work, but more and more possibilities will unlock as you progress. The game also has items to make certain tasks less tiresome, like rare one-use items which make crops grow in a day.

More technical details were revealed as well. Doraemon Nobita no Bokujou Monogatari was a plan proposal from Bandai Namco to Marvelous. From Bandai Namco producer Kenji Nakajima specifically, as he is a fan of Marvelous’ Story of Seasons. The game is developed by Studio Brownies, an independent studio helmed by Shinichi Kameoka, who previously made Egglia on mobile and Fantasy Life on Nintendo 3DS. In the past, Suzuki Kameoka also worked as an artist on the best Mana games by Squaresoft: Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, and Legend of Mana. In fact, Kameoka teased that he was working in a new game, which turned out to be Doraemon Nobita no Bokujou Monogatariback in 2018.

Doraemon Nobita no Bokujou Monogatari was announced in February during a Nintendo Direct, with a first trailer narrated by the awesome Yuichi Nakamura. The new trailer is included below. Famitsu also published new screenshots you can find below along with the game’s box art.
