Devolver Digital has plans to livestream its press conference in lieu of E3 2020‘s cancellation.

In a tweet from the publisher’s official Twitter account, it mentions the huge industry event as “a big part of what we do” and that it is “bummed” about the cancelation. Despite that, Devolver Digital did say that it plans to livestream its press conference, which isn’t out of the ordinary. However, they do mention that they possibly have more planned, but what “possibly more” means is still unknown.

Personally, I think Devolver Digital will cook up another ridiculous press conference. Without a space to flaunt its upcoming lineup, the “possibly more” the tweet is referring to is a digital preview event. This would allow people to check out their upcoming games during a specific period of time. Regardless, we’ll know the publisher’s plans soon.

Unless you’ve been away from the internet for a few hours (like me), E3 2020 has officially been canceled due to coronavirus concerns. Originally scheduled for June 9-11, there will no longer be a stage for the big announcements you expect from the event.

Many companies are opting for digital events to make their big E3 reveals. Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, announced Microsoft is holding an Xbox Series X digital event with details to come soon. Ubisoft plans to have its own digital experience, as well. Reportedly, WB Games was to have its own conference to reveal its next major slate of games, including a new Batman Arkham game.

This is not the only event the coronavirus has affected. In fact, just about every video game industry event this year has made alterations or have canceled due to the pandemic. Recently, GDC 2020 was just canceled after much of the developers and publishers who would have been in attendance announced they would not be traveling to San Francisco.
