Nearly one year after launching, Devil May Cry 5 has now become the best-selling game in the series’ history, according to Capcom.

This information comes by way of Capcom’s official website where the total number of copies of Devil May Cry 5 that have been sold is said to now sit at 3.1 million. This just slightly surpasses that of Devil May Cry 4, which currently sits right at 3.0 million. As for the other entries in the series, DmC: Devil May Cry, the original Devil May Cry, and Devil May Cry 2 round out the top 5 best-selling games in the franchise, in that order. Surprisingly, despite being a fan-favorite, DMC3 is on the lower-end in terms of sales for the series.

All in all, Devil May Cry has never been Capcom’s most successful franchise, but the decision to bring it back with DMC5 paid off greatly for the publisher. Not only is it one of the most critically well-received titles in the saga, Devil May Cry 5’s success surely indicates good things for the franchise in the future. As of now, Capcom hasn’t announced any future entries in the Devil May Cry series, but it seems likely that Nero and Dante will return sooner rather than later.

Not only do future games in the DMC franchise now seem to be a high possibility, but the property will soon be making its way to Netflix in the form of an animated series, too. A potential release date for this TV series has yet to be revealed, but we should hopefully hear more about it later this year.

Regardless of what the future holds for Devil May Cry, now is a great time to be a fan of Capcom’s action-packed series.
