Lucasfilm properties have been making headlines this week after all Star Wars games were placed under the Lucasfilm Games banner, followed by Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order receiving a next-gen update, and then yesterday Bethesda and Machine Games announced that they would be working on an untitled Indiana Jones game. It’s a good week to be a fan of Lucasfilm. While yesterday’s teaser trailer didn’t say much about the Indiana Jones game other than the fact that it’s being made, there might be more to it than initially thought.

After the trailer went live on Twitter, fans picked it apart for details, and luckily Twitter user Jordan Oloman was able to find some clues that might reveal the setting of the game. He said in a thread that after downloading the HD version of the trailer he discovered that the project is “set in Vatican City in October 1937, at least for some part of it. You can see the Sistine Chapel on the map.”

The thread goes on to examine the letter being written on the typewriter. It’s hard to read, but, as Oloman points out, some of the text says “…thank you for taking your time to help me … with this written request… I will be arriving in Rome… I have been informed that your contact will be waiting.” The letter is addressed to someone with the title “Father” which also supports the evidence for the game’s Roman setting.

This information doesn’t tell us much about the actual content of Indie’s adventure, but it does help inform the setting or at least part of it. The Indiana Jones movies are known for their many lush locations as the treasure Indie and company seek is never found after the first clue.
