SuperData Research has unveiled the top grossing games for the month of September in terms of digital sales only, with Bungie and Activision’s Destiny 2 leading the way on consoles.

The launch of Destiny 2’s new expansion Forsaken was enough to place it in the top spot for the month of September surpassing the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man, which came in at second place. The fact that Destiny 2 is also available on both PS4 and Xbox One compared to only PS4 for Marvel’s Spider-Man also surely gave it this edge. SuperData also notes that 60% of monthly active users on Destiny 2 also purchased the Forsaken expansion.

Rounding out the top 5 for the month of September was another new release in FIFA 19Fortnite also continues to chart high on the digital charts slotting in at fourth while yet another new September release, NBA 2K19, rounded out the top 5.

It’s also worth noting that FIFA 19 and NBA 2K19 in particular accumulated the best digital launch sales in each franchise’s respective history, though the digital numbers for NBA 2K19 didn’t increase at the same rate as seen in the past. As for Marvel’s Spider-Man, it has become the best digital launch for a first-party Sony game by selling 2.17 million units. This surpasses the previous record which was held by God of War earlier this year.

In PC digital sales, Dungeon Fighter Online took home the top spot for the month with the ever-massive League of Legends following right behind it. And then with mobile, Honour of KingWW Speed, and Pokemon GO made of the top 3 entries on the list.

As a whole for the month of September, SuperData has revealed that consumers as a whole spent $1.24 billion on digital console games for the month, which is an increase year-over-year from last year’s mark of $912 million. This is due in part to the continued shift towards digital purchases in annual franchises such as FIFA and NBA 2K, along with the powerhouse that has become Fortnite.
