Defiance 2050 was announced back in February of this year as a follow up to experimental video-game-cross-television-series online TPS title Defiancereleased back in 2013. The game released a beta back in April, and now, the team has released a video detailing character classes in the modern title Defiance 2050.

The game will be featuring four base classes: Assassin, Guardian, Combat Medic, and Assault. At launch, players will only be able to select and use one class; however, they will be able to access other classes through gameplay or by purchasing one of the Founder’s Pack DLCs currently available on PC and to be added to console soon.

According to the dev update, the Assassin class will specialize in critical strikes, surprise and stealth, and all-out damage with featured abilities of Sneak and Hidden Blade.

Guardian players will hold the front lines with Barrier and Shockwave abilities, allowing them to provide aggro control support and strengthen their more damage-oriented allies.

Combat Medic players will get an adorable heal-bot ally to help them support players with heals and buffs.

Finally, the balanced Assault class features a happy middle between the previous three. They have access to the Super Melee ability to damage foes, as well as the Concussion Blast to provide crowd control.

Based on the traditional DPS/Tank/Support holy triad found in most MMOs, the Assassin class appears to be more DPS-oriented, whereas the Guardian class will fill the role of Tank and the Combat Medic Class will take on the role of Support. The Assault class looks to be fairly well-rounded between the three others, boasting both offensive and defensive skills for adaptive play.

Defiance 2050 is set to launch sometime in Summer of 2018. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
