Behaviour Interactive’s creepy multiplayer horror title, Dead by Daylight will be heading to Nintendo Switch as confirmed during the Nintendo Direct that took place yesterday. Now players will be able to experience hunting other players, or being hunted from the comfort of…wherever they are with an internet connection.

Originally launching in 2016, Dead by Daylight allows one player to take the horrific form of one of various monsters hellbent on hunting down the survivors to hook them up for sacrifice. However, if you’re one of four survivors you’ll have to scamper around trying to repair generators that will eventually pave the way to your freedom. You’ll also be able to help injured survivors if you’re quick enough, and you can’t attack the enemy, resulting in running and hiding being your best course of action.

The upcoming launch onto the Switch is surprising considering that we interviewed developer Behaviour Interactive in 2017 and asked about the potential of Dead by Daylight coming to the platform. The response from Lead Designer Mathieu Cote, explained that “the team currently has no plans to produce a Nintendo Switch version of the title at this time.”

Of course, that was back in 2017 and since then we’ve seen the title land on PS4 and Xbox One and sell over 3 million copies across all platforms.

The trailer we saw yesterday —embedded above— from the Nintendo Direct shows off the gameplay which does look as if there has been some quality loss in order to run smoothly on the Switch, but then we won’t know for certain until it launches later this year. It does seem to run nice and smoothly from what is shown and will allow characters to be customized.

It’ll be interesting to see if the title goes down the same route as other ported titles such as Layers of Fear in which we see all previous DLC is included. A Lullaby for the Dark was one chapter that launched, another more recent chapter being Darkness Among Us. We’ve also seen Freddy Kreuger, Leatherface, and Jigsaw added to the game.

Dead by Daylight will land on the Switch this Fall, it’s currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
