Minecraft has been a creative outlet for players for many years. Creating a place of freedom for those who want to let their imagination run wild. Officially releasing in November 2011, Minecraft has since been ported to various platforms including the Nintendo Switch, and is widely considered the best-selling video game of all time due to selling 180 million copies across all platforms and 112 million monthly active users as of 2019. Over the years we’ve seen some incredible works of art from Minecraft players and today is no different. Reddit user Deltagon showcases their amazing looking build of a Cyberpunk slum all crafted inside the world of Minecraft.

Deltagon’s dystopian futuristic setting definitely wouldn’t go amiss in the sci-fi world of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, or the upcoming title by CD Projekt, Cyberpunk 2077. Intertwined with vast tall and stark buildings, flying vehicles and connected towers, we see the trademark neon signs that make this scene really stand out in the most Cyberpunk way. The only clue that this was actually created in Minecraft is the characteristic blocky clouds in the skies above the decrepit city.

In the comments under the image on Reddit, Deltagon states that it took them 60 hours over a 2 week period. When asked by a commenter why they build in Minecraft instead of building the model in Blender, Deltagon replied “I do quite a bit of building in Minecraft so I have an easier time bringing my ideas into reality. Whereas I only use Blender for lighting and the camera work, so I can’t even imagine building this (entire scene) in Blender.” Deltagon also stated that they use a program called Mineways to convert the builds into OBJ files ( a standard 3D image format that can be exported and opened by various 3D image editing programs) which then they import to blender and render. Important information for those who would like to give it a go and recreate this scene, or anything else, for themselves.

You can check out Deltagon‘s process in building this Cyberpunk scene right here where they layout in pictures and gifs how they went about each step. Of course, you can see many more images of their incredible work on their portfolio page too that ranges from Steampunk inspired builds, a beautiful red Japanese maple tree, and a mass of incredible oriental sculptures.

If Cyberpunk is your jam, make sure to check out these Funko Pop’s that include six Cyberpunk 2077 figures that feature both male and female versions of the player character V. You can preorder them right now from Gamestop and then you can get your hands on them for real in almost a month before the game releases on August 8. Last week we saw developer CD Projekt Red share via Twitter a quick look at a new vehicle in Cyberpunk 2077 called the Reaver, which is “a custom-built Wraith gang vehicle based on Quadra Type-66 car.” The new vehicle looks very similar to the V8 Interceptor driven by Max Rockatansky in the Mad Max films. We also got a sneak peek on the factions, gangs, and corporations that make up the world of Cyberpunk 2077.

In Minecraft news, Mojang announced that it’s updating its logo and stated via their official blog, that Mojang has now rebranded to Mojang Studios. The blog also introduces “The Mojang’s” which are the little characters that transform themselves into each letter for “Mojang” and are described as “mysterious little gizmos […] powered by play. They test and tinker, endlessly explore, and help us discover new corners of the Minecraft universe.”

You can pick Cyberpunk 2077 up to pre-order on Amazon, it’ll be heading to PC, PS4, and Xbox One later this year on September 17. We’ll also likely see more from the game at the Summer Game Fest in June. The game will also support Smart Delivery on Xbox Series X when the system launches later this year.
