Cd Projekt Red released The Witcher 3 on Xbox Game Pass quite a while ago and ever since then, gamers have speculated if Xbox would be able to swing the development studios’ newest titles, Cyberpunk 2077, into the service too when it releases later this year. It was always a shot in the dark. Still, we now have confirmation that it will not be coming to the subscription service.

Jeff Grub from Venture Beat was discussing the value of consoles exclusives and timed exclusive on his Twitter account. The hypothetical idea of Cyberpunk 2077 coming to Xbox Game Pass on launch day was brought up. This is when, Radek Grabowski, lead PR manager at CD Projekt Red brought up and stated that there are “no Game Pass plans for Cyberpunk 2077.”

It was always a longshot from actually happening. I am sure the speculation just began to circulate whenever The Witcher 3 came to Game Pass back when the Netflix series first debut. Still, a monstrous third party title like Cyberpunk 2077 will not have a need to release for the subscription service anytime soon after release. The Witcher 3 has sold monstrous amounts of units, so I think that this latest game will just be alright.

The service can really help out smaller titles that might not get the recognition if it was just thrown onto the Xbox Store. We have already seen what it can do for smaller gamers like Descenders. The service helped provide a spotlight for the title and it is now selling five times more then what it once was. However, I doubt CD Projekt Red is shaking in their boots worrying about selling enough copies.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release later this year on November 18.
