Remember earlier this week when we reported that the first gameplay footage of Crysis Remastered was set to be released today? Well, it turns out that this is no longer going to be the case and, in fact, the game itself has now been delayed outright.
Over on the official Crysis Twitter account today, Crytek announced that the planned gameplay release for Remastered has been pushed back, as has the game itself. The reason for the delay is seemingly due to the fact that the gameplay that was going to be unveiled today actually leaked yesterday and many fans did not seem too pleased with it. The leaked video, which you can find attached at the bottom of the page, seems to feature a graphical upgrade that many fans found lacking, to say the least. As such, Crytek is listening to this feedback and is going to take more time to polish the remaster.
“This extra time until release will allow us to get Crysis Remastered up to the PC and console-breaking standard you’ve come to expect from the Crysis games,” said Crytek’s statement. “We hope you understand what we’re up to – and that you stay with us while we take the time to make a few more improvements.”

Based on the footage that was leaked, Crysis Remastered was originally set to launch later this month on July 23. Pre-orders were planned to go live today across all platforms as well, but Crytek has also put a halt on this. Only the Nintendo Switch iteration of Crysis Remastered is still up for pre-order now as of now. Crytek has said that this version of the game went up for sale ahead of when it was planned and as such, they don’t want to put a halt on pre-sales since they have already started.
This is absolutely a strange situation to see transpire, but hopefully, the delay actually improves the overall look and feel of Crysis Remastered once it arrives. Based on Crytek’s wording, it doesn’t sound as though the game will be pushed back too far, either.
Whenever the newly-realized version of Crysis does end up dropping at this point, it will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. We’ll keep you updated on the status of its launch as we move forward.
