The Crackdown series is one that Xbox fans have have had for quite some time with two installments on the Xbox 360, and while the eagerly-awaited Crackdown 3 was on the horizon to release later this year, a bit more time will be needed for the title to reach its full potential.
In a report from Polygon, Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis confirmed that Crackdown 3 has been delayed from its intended release in November to sometime in spring 2018.
Specifically, Loftis explained that while many fans (and the team) are excited to finally release the long-awaited Crackdown 3, she said that “we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time.” She also added that “Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game,” and stated that the team is “going to take the extra development time to ensure that.”
Crackdown 3 was first announced back in 2014 at Microsoft’s E3 presentation, but in the years since had gone relatively quiet up until this year, where Microsoft confirmed at E3 2017 that the title would release on November 7th, 2017 on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. Part of that has come from the ambitious nature of the game’s technology, where Loftis explained that it “pushes the technological envelope with immersive true 4K gameplay, cloud-computing competitive multiplayer and a sprawling and futuristic open world.”
Despite the setback from the delay pushing the game into next year, Loftis added in her interview with Polygon that “the team has been working extremely hard to deliver a great experience for fans and this extra time will help us do just that.”
Crackdown 3 is now scheduled to release in Spring 2018 for Xbox One and PC.
